The significance to this quote is that you can see what Brave Orchid is feeling at the time. She is feeling very insecure and thinks that’s all men are like her sister’s husband in the way that men don’t care about women. Which is totally not true, I can’t speak for all men when I say this but we think of women better then we think of other guys.
My personal connection to this is that I would think the exact same way she thinks if I was in that situation. I mean when I'm outside looking in I think that it would never happen but when I'm on the inside looking at myself I think exactly like that.
Do you think this way if you were in her shoes? And would you marry another person while you’re still married to another person?

The significance of this quote is that she didn't know at the time what happened to her mother and her second aunt and her brother doesn’t seem to really care about it. She seems to care about it though. I think that her brother should care more about what happens to her mother.
My personal connection to this is that if something happened to me and my brothers mom I would care a lot but I have a feeling that he wouldn't care so much. He might care some but probably not as much as me.
Do you agree with me on the standpoint that her brother should care more and why?

I agree. Brave Orchid is really feeling that not all men are honest and faithful to their wife's, but she needs to know that isn't always the case, and I think that she is should realize that her husband has never snuck out before to marry another woman. I do believe that there are guys out there who are loyal and truthful to their wifes and those are the people I like to focus on.
Question 1:
I would feel EXACTLY the same way Brave Orchid is feeling at this moment. She is still trying to make sense of what has happened to her sisters life and why it happened the way it did.
If I were married, I would not go off and marry another person because I gave my word to my spouce and I have to keep it. If the relationship was having some problems, then I would have to talk to my spouce and be honest about how I feel about the situation. That's why you can get a legal devorse.
Quote 2:
In this part, it does seem like Maxine's brother really doesn't care about what happeneds to his family. I think that is pretty careless and that he should help out or at least have some sympathy for what his aunt and mom are experiencing right now.
Question 2:
I do agree with you on this one. Family is a huge aspect in a persons life and should be taken seriously. In this case, it pisses me off that the brother isn't acknowledging the situation that his mom is trying to endure, meaning the situation with the aunt.
I completely agree and I like how you said you would feel the same way because that takes a person with a lot of perspective.
Question#1
I do not think I would get mad at the other woman and try to sabotage her. I think I would get mad at my husband.
The brother needs a little bit of empathy. He should stick up for his family members.
Question#2
I agree. Family needs to stick together and the brother isn't taking it seriously enough.
