Immigration Reflection

An Immigrant to me is a person who enters another country legally or not. I think that they come over mostly to find better job opportunities because maybe they don’t like the jobs in their home country. Some country’s government is too powerful or demanding. They might like the government here in the US. I think some of the things that our country has to offer are that we are one of the most powerful countries in the world. We are not really at war with anyone (we are on the “war of terror” but that’s part of bush being dumb) and if we were we would win because we are a strong country. Some other things that we have to offer are jobs because we have some of the highest standards for schools. With better schools come started people and better jobs. I think the big thing why people come over here is for freedom. Freedom from a lot of things. One of America’s “logo” is America the free.

I think the US has been affected greatly from immigration. For the Rock the Vote project my group and I was assigned the illegal immigration topic and I think that there are a whole bunch of immigrants here. Most of them are legal though. But in Ms. Abbassi’s room where me and my group meet for discussing our PSA there was a poster with two people in it which the caption “a day without immigrants” and one guy is saying to the other, “Where did everyone go?”

My life personally has changed a lot due to immigration because I was born in Spain and if there was no immigration then I would still be over there typing up this paper in Spanish. So I think that immigration is a good thing but some people can take advantage of that and come over here illegally.
